I wish I could give more stars!! I purchased something as a gift for my husband, so I can't speak on the quality of the product, but I wanted to leave a review for Classic Edge and Phil and Jane, who have provided nothing but exceptional customer service. As someone who had no prior knowledge of straight razors, both have been incredibly patient as I ask a million questions to try and find the best fit, and both Phil and Jane are experts on everything to do with shaving. They are responsive, willing to go above and beyond for their customers, and overall just absolutely fantastic people and business owners. They have been so kind and so helpful throughout the entire process, and this has been one of the best experiences I've ever had with purchasing anything. Once my husband has used his razor, I have no doubt he will also have nothing but good things to say. I mistakenly bought two bottles of this thinking it was the 4711 aftershave (blue color). I was pretty disappointed but read some guys used this as aftershave so I thought I'd give it a try. I went from trying to use it up to actually enjoying it. I find it a bright uplifting scent. Its stronger than the 4711 aftershave & has some bite but its not overpowering. I use both now.
With a classic and warm scent profile, I prefer to use this soap on cooler or rainy days. Something about it brings to mind holidays with family. A thirsty soap which produces a great lather, slick cushion and thick buffer. Leaves my skin feeling smooth and well conditioned. The amaretto scent pairs well with woodsy aftershaves or spicy colognes.
This is a top tier soap in my opinion, and performs as well as any soap I have tried to date. Will likely be in my home for as long as I shave.
I find the scent of this soap to be slightly medicinal yet pleasant. Soap lathers very well and provides a nice slickness and good buffer. Compares favourably to many higher priced soaps. Has a nice cooling and soothing feeling due to the eucalyptus/menthol. A good, invigorating shave - perfect for a hot summer evening.
