Boker The Celebrated Olive 5/8 Straight Razor

Notify me when this product is available:

A phenomenally crafted reissue of one of the most famous models in the long history of the Boker Straight Razor! Featuring themselves in the 1906 catalog of Boker USA, especially high quality models were decorated with the same traditional lettering found on the blade of this modern edition. Each of these incredible olivewood razors are constructed from high-quality wood. The widely popular 5/8 blade is laboriously made from carbon and stainless steel, and features a 24 Carat Gold inlay.

The select olivewood scales, with their lively grain and beautiful colour, give each of these unique razors their impressive and exclusive appearance. The classic Boker tree symbol has been delicately inserted into the handle of these razors, while each blade has been given an authentic Boker stamp.

Like any other razor sold by The Classic Edge Shaving Store, this razor is professionally honed to "shave ready" by Phil. This $25 Value is our way of showing you that we are willing to take our Customer Service to the next level. After all, nothing is worse than buying a Straight Razor as a gift for a loved one, only for them to open the box and realize that they now have to send it away to be sharpened before they can use it. Also included is a free follow up honing that can be used once your razor is in need of a fresh edge.

Please allow a minimum of at least 2-3 business days for us to prepare your Straight Razor, as this is not a product that you buy just anywhere. It needs special attention to detail as it will come in contact with your skin, and must be sanitized and polished before being coated with Renaissance Wax. This careful and considerate attention to each razor is the difference between a shaving store that will rush your razor out the next morning, and our own Artisan-owned shaving store that is nothing less than extreme when it comes to making their clients 100% satisfied. It's our job to ensure that your experience is perfect. We cannot thank you enough for visiting our website, and we hope you have a great day.

Note: When you receive the razor for the first time, carefully take it out of the box and remove the oil with a piece of tissue. The razor has already been stropped and it completely "Shave Ready", so go ahead and shave! You will get 2 shaves before needing to strop (depending on how aggressive your beard growth is. Each time you have used your razor, rinse the blade with hot tap water. Carefully and thoroughly dry the blade and in between the scales with a piece of tissue paper before you close it. We recommend to oil your razor after every use. To maintain a sharp cutting edge, strop regularly prior to shaving.

About Boker Manufaktur Solingen:

Since the beginning of the Boker manufacturing plant in 1869, high quality straight razors have been consistently produced in Solingen, Germany. At that time, they were already committed to using nothing but the best of materials, and strived to maintain the highest-quality production standards. With that background their success came quickly, giving Boker straight razors an impeccable international reputation. After World War II, the manufacturing of straight razors gradually came to a stop. Today, an original Boker catalog from 1906 is the oldest document in our archives about the razor blade product line of that time. More than 100 years later, a new lineup began being manufactured in Solingen, reviving the old tradition. Through 170 individual production steps, the new and exclusive Boker straight razors are created. A guarantor for the highest quality is the successful "finger nail test"; only the edge of a perfectly ground blade can be visibly bent on your thumbnail, and return immediately to its original shape when released. Cheap blades are too thick to do this, and for that reason they are referred to as "axes" by the experts.
