Mitchell's Original Wool Fat Shaving Soap Refill

Notify me when this product is available:

Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap was first produced in the early 1930's by Bradford chemist Fred Mitchell who realized that the natural lanolin content of wool fat, which kept the hands of local sheep shearers and wool sorters so exceptionally soft, could also be beneficial to delicate complexions and sensitive skins. A simple and natural product, Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap is still made to Mr. Mitchell's original formula, based on a recipe from the turn of the century and incorporating lanolin from the wool fat as the key ingredient. This gentle and soothing shaving soap is especially suitable for sensitive skin. Natural lanolin from sheep's wool keeps the skin soft. In keeping with the natural feel of this soap, it has little to no scent. Just a clean, fresh experience!

One of the best!

I've used many different shave soaps and creams in the past, and simply put, Mitchell's Wool Fat shave soap is one of the best products out there. There's a reason it's been around for so long. The scent is light and clean, not overpowering...so won't conflict with any aftershave or cologne one might use post shave.
Lathering this soap took a couple of times to get right, but once I did, was very impressed with the smooth, slick lather I could get out of this soap, regardless of the type of brush used. The lather held up very well...I've recently been learning to use a 'shavette', making for VERY SLOW passes, yet...there was no noticeable dissipation or drying out of the lather either on my beard or in the brush. Face feels good, clean and smooth afterwards (I take it that's the lanolin at work), and no irritation whatsoever.
Judging by the amount of quality lather to soap ratio, this puck should last a very long time. One suggestion that worked for me when trying to build a lather...use a damp, not overly wet brush to start loading off the puck and gradually added lukewarm warm until the brush is full of a good amount of product...then face or bowl lather, again...gradually adding water, shouldn't take more than a couple minutes, no magic involved, anyone can get this soap to work. Highly recommend, will buy again for sure!
Thanks to Jane and everyone at Classic Edge for the World Class customer service!
