Dovo Bismarck 6/8 Pakkawood Straight Razor - Black Finish

This 6/8 inch DOVO straight razor has earned its name, BISMARCK, one given to only the highest quality straight razor designs from Solingen in the 20th century; a  tradition for excellence that still holds true today. The special features of this model are its rich ebony colour, heavy weight, and incomparable handling. Only our most experienced specialists produce this unique piece by hand. Among many fans, the burnished design is also called the "black prince".

This straight razor is made of carbon steel with the material number 1.2210, better known as silver steel. In order to achieve a hardness of approximately 61 HRC, the material is heated to over 1000 degrees Celsius and then immediately quenched with a special oil. The subsequent tempering at about 200 degrees Celsius gives the blade elasticity and toughness. The stylish black finish is achieved by an abrasion-resistant burnishing.

Ebony is one of the most valuable woods on earth. It is extremely hard and heavy. Therefore, it is perfect for the production of a high-quality handle. Its structure allows the wood to retain its shape even in humid environments and prevents swelling of the material. Several grind cycles are necessary to create the silky smooth surface.

During hollow grinding, the straight razor is ground concavely from the back to the cutting edge. This design combines great flexibility with high torsional rigidity in longitudinal form. Enjoy the satisfying sound and feel of an incredibly gentle shave from the vibration of the razor blade trimming your facial hair.

The round point is the classic shape for a razor and is suitable in most shaving situations. This type of point has been very popular for centuries, as the curved shape can be used very safely in the areas of the ears, nose, and dimples. Even in the event of a fall, the rounded head protects you from injuries.

A wide blade is particularly suitable for men with strong beard growth or thicker hair. A 6/8 inch straight razor glides undeterred, through even the thickest facial hair. The experienced barber appreciates the high weight of the blade and the resulting smooth operating performance. Especially on straight facial areas, you will achieve an unrivalled thorough and comfortable shave.

Like any other razor sold by The Classic Edge Shaving Store, this razor is professionally honed to "shave ready" by Phil. This $25 Value is our way of showing you that we are willing to take our Customer Service to the next level. After all, nothing is worse than buying a Straight Razor as a gift for a loved one, only for them to open the box and realize that they now have to send it away to be sharpened before they can use it. Also included is a free follow up honing that can be used once your razor is in need of a fresh edge.

Please allow a minimum of at least 2-3 business days for us to prepare your Straight Razor, as this is not a product that you buy just anywhere. It needs special attention to detail as it will come in contact with your skin, and must be sanitized and polished before being coated with Renaissance Wax. This careful and considerate attention to each razor is the difference between a shaving store that will rush your razor out the next morning, and our own Artisan-owned shaving store that is nothing less than extreme when it comes to making their clients 100% satisfied. It's our job to ensure that your experience is perfect. We cannot thank you enough for visiting our website, and we hope you have a great day.

Note: When you receive the razor for the first time, carefully take it out of the box and remove the oil with a piece of tissue. The razor has already been stropped and it completely "Shave Ready", so go ahead and shave! You will get 2 shaves before needing to strop (depending on how aggressive your beard growth is. Each time you have used your razor, rinse the blade with hot tap water. Carefully and thoroughly dry the blade and in between the scales with a piece of tissue paper before you close it. We recommend to oil your razor after every use. To maintain a sharp cutting edge, strop regularly prior to shaving.
