About Our Aftershaves and Cologne:
At the Classic Edge, we believe that your shaving ritual should always be an enjoyable experience, not a painful chore that leaves your skin aggravated and upset!
After shaving, your face becomes sensitive, and needs to be cooled, moisturized, and soothed in order to prevent dryness and irritation. So, your immediate step after shaving should always be to apply some form of aftershave balm, lotion, or cream. It is also important to know the difference between these post-shave products, and the related colognes; as the former should be used directly after shaving, while the latter is exclusively meant to be used as a fragrance.
Aftershave Lotion: often lightly scented and alcohol based, these aftershaves calm shaving inflammation, disinfect any cuts or nicks, and give the skin that perfect, fresh feeling custom of scented products, while reducing irritation.
Aftershave Balms and Creams: heavier than lotion, these products effectively serve the same purpose, but with a thicker and creamier consistency. Typically made without alcohol, these aftershaves are designed to soothe the skin, hydrate and repair dryness, and maintain a soft, even complexion.
Cologne: while used "after shaving", these products should never be used as a proper aftershave; instead, they are primarily used as a fragrance. Colognes do not typically contain ingredients meant to nourish and hydrate the skin, and their especially high alcohol content can cause burns and irritation if applied to the face after shaving. They are, however, an excellent addition to any fragrance routine, as they provide a perfectly mild, fresh scent, and can transform your regular morning routine into one that is a true luxury.
