The Merkur 23C was originally developed in the ‘20s. Its reliable quality makes it a timeless classic; the long handle and straight foam edge ensure a particularly smooth shave. The Merkur specific spacious blade gap allows a high soap flow and also makes cleaning noticeably easier. Comes with 1 Merkur double edge blade.

The head of the safety razor is manufactured using the zinc die-casting process since it creates instruments with maximum precision even for complex shapes. In order to ensure a comfortable weight distribution, we only use brass for the handle. The chrome finish protects the razor from corrosion and underlines the high-quality design.

A safety razor with a closed comb is the all-rounder for classic wet shaving. Intuitively, you will feel the best shaving angle for your safety razor and immediately achieve ideal shaving results. The generous blade gap allows high soap flow protecting the razor head from clogging with cut hair or lather residue.

Not Flawless, But Meets and Exceeds Expectations

I am delighted with my new Merkur 23C LH razor ! It is an fine instrument, similar to a Keuffel & Esser slide rule.

The Merkur 23C LH razor is a forgiving razor, and serves to reinforce underlying fundamental shaving skills. Extending on its engineering and manufacturing integrity, you may be confident that your scrapes and wounds result from your own doing. (ie: don't blame the equipment).

Alternatively, the 23C LH will effectively articulate your weaknesses and preferences. To be sure, after 6 months, it will lend itself to the eventual purchase, of a second razor with matured insight. (Am a straight razor guy, traversing to DE safety).

Regardless, a well-cared for Merkur 23C will last for decades and is integral to a shaving toolkit.

Finally, I have ordered previously from Classic Edge Shaving, I am always struck by Phil and Jane's receptivity, since my "traight edge newbie days.

An excellent choice for the new wet shaver. It is a three piece safety razor, easy to open up and load with the razor blade of your choice. The knurled handle ensures a secure grip while shaving. Easy to rinse out after a shave before putting it back on stand. I like that it puts the blade at a consistent angle of attack so one doesn't have to adjust how one holds the razor with each new blade. Good, solid German manufacturing!
