Made for the Italian Market in the mid-twentieth century, and manufactured in the heart of straight razor excellence, Solingen Germany, the Rococo Solingen No. 43 is not only an excellent shaver, but a genuine work of historical art.
The 6/8 Full Hollow Ground, Swedish High Carbon Steel blade featured on this phenomenal razor is accompanied by the models original pair of resin scales, and adorned with the original, fully-intact tag.
A gorgeous Nickel-Silver inlay of the company's signature logo sits delightfully in the handle; but you shouldn't be surprised if your eye is immediately drawn to the expertly applied gold wash, still in perfect condition, that runs beautifully across the face of the blade!
In fact, the entirety of this stunning razor both looks and feels practically untouched. So, whether you decide to shave with this remarkable piece, or simply add it to your collection, you can be sure that this breathtaking razor will serve you well for years to come!
Note from Phil: This New Old Stock razor is not only eye candy, but a truly outstanding performer. I never get tired of hearing it sing on the stones; that beautifully distinct sound, one that can only be heard when refining a top quality razor to perfection. As an irreplicable piece of both art and history, this razor will instantly become the highlight of any collection and, if requested, can be honed at no extra charge.
But Phil, would you actually shave with such a wonderful piece? Recently, I had a client that convinced me, claiming life was far too short, so why would you NOT shave with it, it's what it was intended for after all! Just a few years ago, I lost another client and close friend that had pushed me to do the same thing. When he passed, I took out some of the best razors in my collection and shaved with them, why did I wait so long? After trying it myself, and if it's in your budget to do so, I highly recommend it.
As I'm writing this, I still hear a voice in the back of my head saying "are you nuts?! Put that thing in a glass box and wait for it to triple in price!"
But honestly, I would go with your gut on this; and if you do decide to give vintage razors a try, there really is no better contender than the Rococo. In fact, if you choose to use this razor as part of an everyday routine, expect to practically hear the effortless cut of every hair as you shave.
Comes with the original box and tag. Like any high-end collectible, we ask that you advise us on whether you would like the original factory edge, or made to be completely "Shave Ready"
If you entrust to us this special privilege, like all other straight razors leaving the Classic Edge, we will take great care to ensure this edge is perfect in every way. As always, a final polishing will be done after honing, to give this razor the remarkable shine it had the day it came out of the factory.
Like any other razor sold by The Classic Edge Shaving Store, this razor is professionally honed to "shave ready" by Phil. This $25 Value is our way of showing you that we are willing to take our Customer Service to the next level. After all, nothing is worse than buying a Straight Razor as a gift for a loved one, only for them to open the box and realize that they now have to send it away to be sharpened before they can use it. Also included is a free follow up honing that can be used once your razor is in need of a fresh edge.
Please allow a minimum of at least 2-3 business days for us to prepare your Straight Razor, as this is not a product that you buy just anywhere. It needs special attention to detail as it will come in contact with your skin, and must be sanitized and polished before being coated with Renaissance Wax. This careful and considerate attention to each razor is the difference between a shaving store that will rush your razor out the next morning, and our own Artisan-owned shaving store that is nothing less than extreme when it comes to making their clients 100% satisfied. It's our job to ensure that your experience is perfect. We cannot thank you enough for visiting our website, and we hope you have a great day.
Note: When you receive the razor for the first time, carefully take it out of the box and remove the oil with a piece of tissue. The razor has already been stropped and it completely "Shave Ready", so go ahead and shave! You will get 2 shaves before needing to strop (depending on how aggressive your beard growth is. Each time you have used your razor, rinse the blade with hot tap water. Carefully and thoroughly dry the blade and in between the scales with a piece of tissue paper before you close it. We recommend to oil your razor after every use. To maintain a sharp cutting edge, strop regularly prior to shaving.
